This hands-on exhibit takes a familiar pre-cinematic animation device and adds twelve Lego building surfaces. The Lego surfaces are precisely aligned with twelve mirrors so that when the entire device rotates visitors are treated to a view of each of the twelve surfaces in rapid succession. This enables visitors to construct small 3D animations using Lego figurines, bricks, bicycles, etc.
We have plans to construct a much larger version of this device with a greater number of large work surfaces. This would enable families and groups to work together on large 3D animations. Illumination of these large animations would be by triggered strobe lighting so that they could be seen from all angles.
