Circuits
Circuits allows visitors to explore the concept of making electrical circuits by combining different components. Eight acrylic letters are back-lit by color-changing LEDs. The lighting effect for each letter is set by visitors as they complete “circuits” using the cables on the front of the exhibit. The eight cables at the bottom represent the power source for the LEDs and are electrically connected together. The eight connectors at the top represent the inputs for each of the eight letters. If a power source cable is connected directly to a letter input connector, it causes the letter to light up in white. There are eight effects boxes that can be used to change the color of the lights. Instead of connecting a power source directly to a letter input connector, the power source can be connected to an effect box. The output of this effect box then needs to be connected to a letter input in order for it to do anything. The effect boxes can also be chained together to combine their effects.
