Pursuit Specialist, Public Art & Placemaking

Position Summary

Creative Machines is seeking a Pursuit Specialist to join our Marketing Department. This business development-focused role helps drive company growth through pursuit coordination, opportunity identification, relationship development, and market research across the public art, corporate art, and placemaking sectors.

 

The ideal candidate is familiar with the public art, design, architecture, placemaking, or related industries and is naturally curious, relationship-oriented, organized, and proactive. They enjoy identifying opportunities, building professional networks, gathering market intelligence, and helping transform industry relationships into future projects.

 

This position works closely with company leadership and the Marketing Communications Manager to support project acquisition efforts by identifying strategic opportunities, strengthening industry relationships, coordinating pursuit efforts, and supporting long-term growth across the public and private sectors.

Primary Responsibilities

Pursuit Coordination

  • Monitor RFQ, RFP, and art registry opportunities.

  • Organize opportunity calendars and submission deadlines.

  • Maintain procurement platform and portal activity.

  • Gather and organize proposal materials.

  • Maintain project sheets, resumes, and qualifications materials.

  • Coordinate proposal assembly and submission processes.

  • Maintain proposal archives, opportunity records, and pursuit metrics.

  • Track proposal outcomes and support follow-up activities.

Opportunity Development

  • Research prospective clients, consultants, developers, architects, municipalities, corporations, and industry partners.

  • Monitor public art, corporate art, and master planning opportunities.

  • Identify emerging markets, industry trends, and strategic growth opportunities.

  • Track industry developments, competitive activity, and market intelligence.

  • Identify strategic targets aligned with company goals and market priorities.

Relationship Development

  • Develop and maintain relationships with prospective clients and industry partners.

  • Support outreach and follow-up efforts with target audiences.

  • Coordinate introductory meetings and partnership opportunities.

  • Support leadership in strengthening client, consultant, and partner relationships.

  • Help cultivate long-term relationships that lead to future opportunities.

Business Development Systems

  • Maintain CRM and opportunity tracking systems.

  • Support pipeline development and reporting.

  • Assist with business development initiatives and outreach campaigns.

  • Coordinate LinkedIn engagement and industry visibility efforts.

  • Support lead generation and relationship-development activities.

Marketing Collaboration

  • Provide market intelligence and industry insights to support marketing strategy.

  • Collaborate on visibility, outreach, and thought leadership initiatives.

  • Support publication, award, and industry engagement efforts.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Communications Manager on initiatives that strengthen Creative Machines' visibility, positioning, and industry presence.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Familiarity with public art commissioning, artist selection processes, or AEC procurement systems.

  • Experience in business development, partnerships, client relations, account management, marketing, communications, or related fields.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Strong organizational and research skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Initiative to find opportunities that competitors do not see.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, detail oriented, and goal driven.

 

Preferred

  • 2+ years familiarity with public art, architecture, design, placemaking, economic development, cultural planning, community development, or related industries.

  • Experience with RFQs, RFPs, RFIs, or qualifications-based selection processes.

  • Experience with CRM systems and opportunity tracking tools.

  • Experience using LinkedIn for professional networking, relationship development, industry research, or business development activities.

  • Timely and accurate coordination of RFQ and proposal efforts

  • Strong collaboration with company leadership and the Marketing Department

Work Environment

This full-time position is based in our Tucson, Arizona office and requires regular in-person collaboration with team members and company leadership. Hybrid work arrangements may be available based on experience and business needs.

 

Compensation Range

Salary range: $46,000-$50,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
