Globe Theater is a ball machine that celebrates the animals that populate the Pacific Northwest. It contains four separate tracks including devices such as a Clumper, Loop-Popper-Catch, Wok, Bounce & Catch, and Helices. The machine incorporates musical elements like a xylophone bar, hammer bell, and stair of chimes.
There are three animal pendulums featuring a hand-painted dog, trout, and bear. Built into the track is a “river” meander embodying Portland’s numerous waterways, and three colorful frogs that playfully represent the wildlife found there. The machine also includes a 3D Nodding Bear that catches a ball in his mouth and drops it on the track below.
This ball machine was designed by George Rhoads in collaboration with Rock Stream Studios.
