Sustainability

Creative Machines has a longstanding commitment to sustainability that informs how we design, fabricate, relate to our community and run our facility. We think about the long-term consequences of every decision we make. Whenever possible, we use materials that have been repurposed or recycled, incorporate kinetic elements that utilize renewable energy sources to power interactive components, and design with durability and longevity in mind, using materials that require minimal maintenance and have a long lifespan. Our goal is to contribute to the community through our art while fostering a healthier, more sustainable environment.

In addition to these best practices, when we design for the future we think deeply about human systems, culture, and what is going to make a design have longevity and value to humanity. We believe this is the core of sustainability in what we do.

We Design Art for Longevity

We create art for placemaking that is beautiful but goes beyond aesthetics, offering an immersive and captivating environment for multiple generations to enjoy. How do we approach building art that lasts?

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Our Creative Machines shop is located on the ancestral lands of the Tohono O'odham Nation. We are nestled in the heart of Tucson, Arizona, a vibrant, culture-rich city, both presently and historically. This land was home to some of the earliest people in North America, the Hohokam, and we honor and respectfully acknowledge the indigenous nations that have stewarded this land since time immemorial. Today, Arizona is home to 22 federally recognized tribes, with Tucson being home to the Tohono O’odham and the Pascua Yaqui Tribe.
