Nerdy Derby Roll It

Nerdy Derby Roll It is an interactive car building and racing exhibit that empowers kids to build a car, race it and then re-engineer their design to win a race. The exhibit begins at the build station where the visitors can design and build their car by picking materials from a diverse selection to serve as:

• a car’s “chassis”

• axles

• wheels

Once the visitors are happy with their design, they can take their car to one of three “parking bays” in the garage to start their race. Upon closing the “garage door” and pushing ‘Start’ on the screen, the garage will act as an elevator to take the cars to the top of the racetrack. After reaching the top, the elevator will tilt and launch the cars down one of three tracks. Sensors will time the cars marking when they start on the track, and when they finish. The winning car will be identified by the race lights in the finish tower. Cameras will record each cars’ race to show the racer their win or help them understand where they may need to modify their car for better speed. During the race, the garage will reset itself to the lower parked position for the next race.
