3D-printed organs for 2014 All Souls Procession!

Over the past ten years, we have found new and exciting ways to collaborate with the performance troupe, Flam Chen. This past year, for the All Souls Procession, Flam Chen asked us to use our 3D printer to develop a series of human “organs” to be part of their performance. They wanted a recognizable brain, heart and uterus that looked simultaneously organic and futuristic. We 3D printed these unique sinewy objects by creating a globby external surface that generated the overall form with an intricate internal structure that diffracted LED light resulting in the organs’ eery glow. We are hoping to use the 3D printer to develop larger art pieces with similarly complex internal and external structures in the future.
