Strobe String

Strobe String includes a spinning string plus a stroboscope that is used to analyze the motion of the string. Visitors control the speed of the strobe, the speed of the string, and the location of a pivot for the string. With these variables, visitors can get the string to oscillate regularly (with 1, 2, 3, 4, or more nodes) or move chaotically. Visitors can touch the spinning string and modify the path it takes with their fingers. The strobe introduces another dimension, allowing visitors to appear to stop the motion of the string when it is moving regularly or analyze it when it is moving chaotically.
